GALILEO GALILEI (1564-1642)
Born on: 15th Feb 1564. Died on: 8th Jan 1642.
Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy in 1564.
Some people recognized Galileo as the Father of Physics.
Many regard Galileo as the father of modern science.
He is the first scientist who introduced inertia in motion i.e explain the law of inertia.
He proved experimentally that acceleration due to gravity is constant irrespective of the size and shape of the body.
Galileo supported Helio Centric Theory which is proposed by Copernicus i.e. the sun is at rest and all the planets including Earth revolving around the sun.
Galileo designed his own telescope with two different lenses.
With his telescope, he identified mountains and depressions on the surface of the moon, the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, dark spots on the Sun, phases of Venus, and so on.
He showed the path of the particle as Parabola.
He stated that air has the weight, later Pascal proved experimentally.
