About C V RAMAN
SIR C V RAMAN (1888-1970)
- Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman was born on 7th Nov, 1888 Thiruvanaikkaval, Tamilanadu.
- He got Noble Prize in the year 1930 for his discovery Raman Effect.
- 28th February celebrating as National Science Day in India, because the Raman discovered Raman Effect on that day.
- He got Bharata Ratna in the year 1954.
- C V Raman was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of London in the year 1924.
- His areas of interest are Vibrations of molecules, Variety of musical instruments, diffraction, scattering and so on.
- Raman effect is about the inelastic scattering of light at Homo Nuclear molecules. (He is the first person who identified spectra for homonuclear molecules. In his observation, vibrational spectra of home nuclear molecules, he identified Stoke and Anti-stoke lines. Stoke lines with less frequency than incident light and Anti stoke lines with greater frequency than incident light frequency).
- Sir C V Raman died at the age of 82 years, on 21st November 1970 in Bengaluru due to heart disease.
